Explanation of Dedicated Server Packages

When we talk about hosting servers, there are three basic categories - shared website hosting servers, VPS (private virtual servers) and dedicated servers. Shared hosting web servers accommodate many customers and thus the resources per user account are limited, virtual private server accounts give you more server configuration independence, but also affect other virtual private web servers on the hardware node if used unwisely, and dedicated servers offer you the liberty to do everything you see fit without messing with anyone else.

Why would you require a dedicated server?

Dedicated servers are generally much more high-priced than shared web hosting servers or virtual private web servers. Why would anyone, then, want to use them? The explanation is very simple. If your firm has a popular web page, or just has very explicit server configuration requirements, the smartest option is a dedicated server. For somebody who is prepared to invest in safety and reliability, the bigger price is of no concern. You gain full server root privileges and can use 100% of the dedicated server's system resources without anyone else availing of these system resources and messing with your online portals.

Hardware configurations

Most shared hosting corporations, incl. us at Hostwaysolutions, provide several different hardware configurations you can pick from in accordance with your requirements. The configurations offer different sorts of processors, a different number of cores, different RAM memory and disk drive sizes and different monthly traffic usage quotas. You can choose a web hosting Control Panel, which is a useful graphical user interface if you would like to use the dedicated hosting server for website hosting purposes solely and prefer not to use an SSH terminal for all the changes you will be making. We provide three kinds of web hosting Control Panel software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.

The hosting Control Panel of your preference

If you are a self-confident Linux user (our dedicated hosting web servers are powered by Linux or other Unix-based Operating Systems), you could manage your dedicated server via a Secure Shell connection only. That, however, could be inconvenient, especially if you wish to give complete server root access to someone else who has less technical expertise than yourself. That is why having Control Panel software pre-activated is a splendid idea. The Hepsia web hosting Control Panel tool that we offer does not offer full server root access and is mostly appropriate for somebody who maintains many sites that devour lots of resources, but wants to manage the web sites, databases and electronic mail accounts through an intuitive Control Panel. The DirectAdmin and cPanel hosting CPs, on the other hand, give you root-level access and have 3 levels of access - root, reseller and user. If you plan to resell web hosting packages instead of utilizing the web hosting server just for yourself, you should pick one of these two.

Web server monitoring and backup services

Last but not least, there is the issue of monitoring the dedicated server and of backing it up. In case of a problem with your dedicated web hosting server, such as an unresponsive Apache or a network downtime, it is useful to have some sort of monitoring system enabled. Here at Hostwaysolutions the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you order a Managed Services upgrade, they monitor the individual services on the dedicated server as well. Backups are also a bonus option - the hosting company offers you data backups on our own backup servers. You could select a type of RAID that would permit you to have the same data on 2 server disk drives as a protective measure in case of a hard disk failure, or in case someone whom you have given complete root access erases something accidentally.
